In honor of Black Maternal Breastfeeding Week, DePaul's Infant Empowerment and Education Program (DIEEP) and other various organizations, is hosting a casual evening reception for expecting mothers to meet and greet local breastfeeding and maternal support organizations and leaders.

During the event, moms will receive educational materials regarding available local breastfeeding support services and resources by visiting vendor tables, as well as listening to presentations by local maternal and child health leaders. Charcuterie and bubbly refreshments will be served, and gifts will be handed out to everyone.    

The women of the Alpha Beta Omega Chapter, Inc. of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will serve as hostesses as part of a maternal health impact project.  

The event will be at Salon22, located at 2407 Bienville Street from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

DePaul Community Health Centers' Infant Empowerment and Education Program and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Alpha Beta Omega Chapter hosted an evening panel discussion on March 12 at Salon 22 in New Orleans that focused on women's overall health, prenatal and postnatal care, mental health and more.

Attendees also enjoyed food and live music by local musician Wynton Thomas, and received information from local vendors that support mothers. At the end of the evening, DIEEP presented multiple awards to community leaders who have made a difference in maternal care.
